Sizes available: HPP quart

Basics: zones 4-7, 2-2.5' x 1-1.5', full sun to part shade, spherical white blooms comprised of numerous tiny flowers on branching structures in mid-late summer, wants moist to wet soils

Common names: This is a white version of a Devil's Bit Scabious

Family: Caprifoliaceae

Origin/Distribution: This is potentially the Jelitto Seeds introduction Succisella inflexa 'Frosted Pearls'. I am going to obtain seed and grow it out to compare. The species occurs in Europe. Both Succisa pratensis and Succisella inflexa are garden escapees in parts of North America.

Habitat: Found on moist woodland edges, in damp fields, and disturbed or waste places.

More: According to Nancy Ondra at Hayfield Seeds, this plant may actually be Succisella inflexa 'Frosted Pearls", however, she is selling the seed as Succisa pratensis 'Alba'. They are closely related and behave similarly in the garden. I think she is right that this is 'Frosted Pearls'. Good for cutting. It will also look jaunty popping out amongst medium-sized and lower-growing grasses that also prefer some moisture.

Source: sown at Honey Petal Plants with seed from Hayefield Seeds or the North American Rock Garden Society Seed Exchange. In the future, I will use Jelitto Seeds and you can too!

My Female GSD loves
Size: Medium (2.5"), Style: Fetch Pack 1, Size: Medium (2.5"), Style: Fetch Pack 1
Shasta is my smallest. Six in December (2025) along with her brother. She’s 100 lbs and outside, completely ball driven see last picture. Don’t let the size (2.5”) of these Chuck-It balls deter you. If your larger Breed dog has any orthopedic issues, has already torn their ACL etc, one has arthritis but wants to play. This size is perfect! Shazzy was born with several ortho issues. I don’t throw balls distance but right to her. This size and lighter weight assure even when Shazzy is spazzy w excitement, she’ll catch the ball mid air. The green balls are softer, and glow in the dark. In summer we can play well past dusk and I can see them! Her personality shows in the pictures. Playing ball is part of her. These balls are just perfect for her situation. Somehow they disappear, she loves making baskets, puts them in my tractor bucket, or my gardening bucket..then get put in burn pile, trash etc. I keep replacing them because she’d look day and night if we actually ran out!! 🙏✝️👍🏼👍🏼

Heavy chewer approved.
Style: Ball, Size: Medium (Pack of 1)
My pomsky will destroy a toy in minutes. Ropes, and the "indestructible" nylon type stuffs are no match for my furry shark. This ball has stood up to him like David. He loves the crunch and it is so much more tolerable than a squeaker. These will be a staple in his toy box - Chuckit toys are really the most durable dog toys I have found in three years.

Dogs love them
Style: Ball, Size: Medium (Pack of 2)
Our dogs love these. What’s great is that you can add more plastic (like from water bottles) if the plastic starts to fall out from the center. If you have a chewer, though, these won’t last you long. Our shepherd mix loves these and then starts to pull the rubber apart the more she plays with it. Our other dogs treat it normally, though, and those ones last forever. They also get some decent height when bounced, and they make a unique whistling noise when thrown.
