Hanging glass bowl ceiling light shades became popular during the 1920s through to the 1950s. They earned the name ‘Flycatcher’ for obvious reasons.
This vintage flycatcher comes alive when lit. The patterns are unique and no two are identical. The colour blue is not common in these multi-colour flycatchers.
I have carefully restored this salvaged light to its former glory and fitted it with new chrome components; chains, glass bowl hooks, 3-hook ceiling fitting, wooden pattress, lamp holder and royal blue fabric flex. The ES (E27) lampholder has been PAT tested for safety.
Each one is original and has been used, showing normal signs of wear and tear.
This Flycatcher ceiling light comes with everything you need to easily convert your existing ceiling fitting. Wiring should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
The wooden pattress is supplied in plain varnished pine and can be painted to suit your ceiling colour or contrast with it. I like both.
Fitting instructions.
1. The wooden pattress should be securely fitted to the ceiling by a qualified electrician..
2. Wiring of the 3-hook ceiling plate and lamp holder should be carried out by a qualified electrician. Please Note: The 3-hook ceiling plate will need to be earthed using the supplied earth tag and nut.
3. The bulb should not touch the bowl (approx 5cm away) and cable should be secured with the plastic grub screw.
This Art Deco Flycatcher ceiling light comes complete with a 12w LED (Non-Dimmable) bulb.
